Classical Chinese Medicine Master Mentorship Course
Heiner Fruehauf’s wellness and educational initiative, The Healing Order, has partnered with Classical Chinese Medicine and Classical Pearls to bring you these master mentorship opportunities.
We would like to introduce Dr. Michael Berletich, who has joined our teaching group here at ClassicalChineseMedicine.org. Dr. Michael Berletich has a clinical doctorate in Chinese medicine from the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine and is a seasoned holistic practitioner and educator. He has more than two decades of experience in clinical practice and teaching. He began training and mentorship with Dr. Heiner Fruehauf in 2000, filling herbal formulas, studying classical texts, and learning Chinese medicine in an apprenticeship. His training continued in both the US and China, studying with Dr. Fruehauf as well as Dr. Fruehauf’s teachers Wang Qingyu, Liu Lihong, and others.
Dr. Berletich will be hosting our next course, The Classical Chinese Medicine Mentorship Course. In this special course, Dr. Michael Berlitich will provide an opportunity to get creative expert ideas for the treatment of your most difficult case. With the support of other experienced practitioners, you will explore their difficult cases as well, providing a unique opportunity to learn, connect, and greatly impact a challenging case.
Each week, our two-hour meeting will consist of 2 clinical case presentations by practitioners in the course. Each case will have 60 minutes total discussion time. A 10-minute case presentation followed by a 50-minute discussion.
Once the case has been presented, Dr. Berletich and the group will begin to tease out areas of importance in the case, including diagnosis, treatment principles, treatment plans, and treatment suggestions that will assist each practitioner to achieve desired clinical outcomes. We will focus on the discussion of our Chinese medicine assessment and diagnosis with applicable correlation to Classical Chinese Medicine theories and outcome-based goals.
Join us, present and discuss a challenging case, take part in discussions with seven of your colleagues, along with an expert and moderator, Dr. Michael Berletich. Come create community with us at ClassicalChineseMedicine.org. Please note: this course is not eligible for CEUs/ PDAs.

About Dr. Michael Berlitich
Dr. Michael Berletich is a seasoned practitioner and educator in holistic and Chinese medicine, with over two decades of experience in clinical practice and teaching. He has held prominent academic positions at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine (OCOM), including Dean of Faculty, Department Chair of Chinese Medicine, Professor, and Clinical Supervisor. As of 2024, he has been in private practice for 20 years and has served as a faculty member at OCOM for 23 years. He currently serves as a faculty member of Yo San University in Los Angeles, California, as well as an adjunct faculty member of AIMC in Berkeley/Austin.
Dr. Berletich’s clinical expertise specializes in internal medicine, with a focus on gastrointestinal, gynecological, cardio-pulmonary, PTSD (trauma care), and chronic autoimmune conditions like fibromyalgia, IBS, and other recalcitrant illnesses. His integrative approach combines herbal medicine, acupuncture (including non-insertive techniques), Qigong (Lingqi/Reiki healing), myofascial release, craniosacral therapy, therapeutic touch and nutrition, lifestyle, and exercise counseling.
Dr. Berletich’s teachings of philosophy and clinical practice are deeply influenced by Classical Chinese Medicine and its bedrock foundation in Daoism and Chinese Cosmology. His work is rooted in the wisdom transmitted to him by his mentors and teachers in both China and the United States, including Dr. Heiner Fruehauf. Additionally, his teaching and practice are further rooted in the teachings he received from Yurok, Karuk, Hopi, Diné, Pueblo, and other elders of the Native American traditions. He credits both his Native American and Chinese teachers with teaching him the way of “how to be a true human being,” and he strives to honor their teachings in his work both clinically and didactically.
Currently based in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Berletich continues to offer patient care, mentorship, and educational programs through Bluesky Firehorse Productions and Bluesky Medicine. He is excited to bring his expertise to Classical Chinese Medicine, The Healing Order, and Classical Pearls to join forces and develop curriculum, clinically based courses, and education programs that show the power and potency of Chinese medicine. His goal is the advancement of Chinese medicine by bringing education and clinical work to its highest level. He seeks to empower practitioners, students, and patients to not only regain their health and well-being but to help the planet to regain its health, balance, and vitality as well.
Outside of his professional endeavors, Dr. Berletich enjoys writing and performing songs and music, gardening, spending time in nature, and with his family.
